Children's Ministry

Our kids are the church now. Not just of the future, but now. We give thanks for the children in our midst, and we value our kids and incorporate them into the life and ministry of the church. Kids can participate in worship in age-appropriate ways, as acolytes, as readers, helping ushers, helping with communion, etc.

Every Sunday, as part of worship there is a kids' time with the pastor. Kids of all ages are welcome to come up and join the pastor for a lesson or a story.

On the 1st and 3rd Sundays, we have children's church during the sermon time.

First Communion classes are held on an as needed basis. If you are ready for your child to begin taking communion, contact Pastor Alex, and she'll be more than happy to schedule a class. There is no minimum (or maximum!) age for communion - it is the Lord's table, not ours. As Jesus says, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”(Matthew 19:14).

Youth Ministry

Our youth are an integral part of our life and ministry together. You will see our Youth serve in worship in a variety of ways, highlighting their gifts and their leadership in our church. To get involved or for more information, contact Pastor Alex.

The central part of our Youth Ministry is our Youth Group for youth in grades 6 through 12. Our Youth Group, Genesis, is a combined youth group with Stone House Presbyterian church. At our normal gatherings, we share a meal and fellowship, have a lesson, and play games together as we strengthen bonds among the youth and with their faith. We also seek opportunities to gather throughout the year just for fun and fellowship.

Most summers, the Youth Group participates in a summer mission trip. Our most recent was a trip to the Eastern Shore with Youth Works. Our youth find these trips as a way to live out their faith in service to others.

We also encourage our youth to take advantage of the Synod youth opportunities as we connect with our faith and other youth from across Virginia. Most events are held at Eagle Eyrie retreat center. More information can be found on the Virginia Synod website or by contacting Pastor Alex.
